Alicante
The second largest city in the Valencia region and less than fifteen minutes drive north of Gran Alacant. The city is a shoppers delight with both well know stores and unique local ones. The Old Town has a very special feel; sit in one of the squares and have a cool drink or tapas and you can imagine yourself transported back in time. Santa Barbara Castle dominates the skyline and from the castle you have wonderful views across the marina and city. |
Santa Pola
About eight minutes drive south of Gran Alacant is the lovely little fishing town of Santa Pola. The town has many places of interest including a small castle, palm park, Roman ruins, marina, football stadium, fun fare, market, over 12 kilometres of beaches, salt museum and aquirium. From here you can take a boat across to the island of Tabarca, a beautiful marine reserve, with wonderful seafood restaurants. |
Elche (Elx)
This lovely city is approximately 15 minutes drive inland from Gran Alacant. Elche is bult within an orchard of over 200,000 palm trees and it was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 2000. It has a prosperous leather shoe making business as well as thriving in the maufacture of confectionery and clothing. There's also the wonderful Rio Safari on the Santa Pola to Elche road, with wild animals, swimming pool with water slides and go kart track. |

Algar Waterfalls, La Villajoyosa, Altea, Guardamar, Guadalest, Novelda, Torrevieja are just a few of places of interest and towns near by that offer wonderful days out. Benidorm is about an hours drive north and coach trips pick up on Gran Alacant for days out in the town, market, beach, Terra Mitica Theme Park, Mondomar Animal Park and Aqualandia Water Park. |
